The alcohol tracker that gives you the real number

One tap per drink. Countrol turns that into units, money, patterns and alcohol-free days — without an account, and without anything leaving your phone.

Countrol showing a week of logged drinks, the current alcohol-free streak and the yearly cost

Most people underestimate what they drink by about a third. Not because they lie, but because nobody remembers a Tuesday three weeks ago. A tracker fixes that in the least dramatic way possible: it writes the number down while it is still true.

Countrol is built for that one job. Open it, tap once for the glass in your hand, close it. Over a few weeks you get something you cannot get from memory — the weekly average, the hours when it usually starts, the days you never drink, and what the whole thing costs in a year. If you want the method rather than the app, we wrote it up in how to track your alcohol consumption.

What counting drinks actually changes

The gap closes

The number you remember and the number you logged stop being different. That gap is where most of the drinking hides.

You stop guessing at progress

A rolling average moves slowly and honestly, so a bad weekend reads as a bad weekend rather than as failure.

The cost becomes a figure

Set what a drink costs you once. Countrol keeps the running total and the yearly projection in a currency you use.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Countrol count alcohol units or standard drinks?

Both. You set what one entry means for each drink you log — a pint, a glass of wine, a 40 ml spirit — and Countrol keeps the totals per day, week and month. It follows what you told it, not a US or UK default you did not choose.

Do I have to quit drinking to use it?

No. Most people who use Countrol are cutting down rather than stopping, and the app is built around that: clean-day streaks sit next to daily counts, so a lower week counts as progress rather than a broken streak.

Is my drinking data sent anywhere?

No. Entries stay in the app on your phone. There is no account, no server holding your log and nothing sold to anybody. If you turn on iCloud sync it goes to your own iCloud, not to us.

Does it work if I only drink at weekends?

That is the pattern it shows best. Day-of-week and peak-hour charts make an every-Friday habit visible in a way a weekly total never does, and clean days between them still count towards your streak.
