Countrol showing current sober streak, personal best and clean day percentage

A day counter is a good motivator right up to the moment it becomes a reason not to reopen the app. Reset it to zero after a hundred days and most people quietly stop counting altogether — which is the one outcome nobody wanted.

Countrol keeps three numbers instead of one: the current streak, your personal best, and the percentage of clean days over the whole period. The third one is the honest one, because it survives a bad night. Underneath it sits the health timeline your clean hours unlock. We compared the apps that do this well, and the ones that do not, in the best sobriety apps.

Three numbers, not one

Current streak

The days since your last entry, counted from your own day boundary rather than from midnight UTC.

Personal best

The longest run you have managed. It stays on the screen after a reset, because it happened and it still counts.

Clean day percentage

The share of days with nothing logged, across weeks and months. The number that keeps rising when the streak does not.

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as a sober day?

A day with nothing logged for that substance. You set when your day starts, so a late night lands on the day it belonged to rather than being split at midnight.

What happens to my streak if I slip?

The current streak restarts, your personal best stays, and the clean-day percentage barely moves. That is deliberate: one day should not erase two months of them.

Can I count more than one thing at a time?

Yes. Alcohol, smoking, caffeine and other substances each keep their own streak, so quitting one while cutting down on another does not mean two apps.

Does it need an account or a community?

Neither. There is no feed, no profile and no one else looking at your count. Everything is stored on your phone, and you can export it or delete it whenever you want.

Free to download, no account, no audience. Day one is the only one you have to do without a number behind it.
